artist statement
I am a ceramic sculptor who creates work exploring childhood nostalgia and social anxiety through a deceptively cute and colorful lens. My ceramics depict popular Internet motifs such as fruit and ghosts that are reinterpreted to explore feminized themes of memory, obsession, loneliness and alienation. The sculptures reflect both the sentimentalized positive memories and the negative emotions experienced as a person grows and develops. Exaggerated childhood and teenage emotional life is given physical form in excessive and exuberant vessels. Colors, textures, and details clash and combine to create an overwhelming maximalist and superficially pleasurable experience.
